Hi there, here is a little request for everyone living (or having lived) in english-speaking countries such as USA, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Hong-Kong... Is there a shmupping or arcade community? Do you have nice game centers?

I wish to expatriate myself within a few months, so I was wondering! For the moment I mostly think about Singapore ou Australia. What should I expect there?

Thank you for reading. :)

I haven't lived there, but I went there for like 6 or 7 times and I always stayed for one or two months.
If you want to find arcade games or community, you have to go to sydney, there is many arcades there (usually in chinatown) and a community.
Just check out this website for more info :

For other city like brisbane, melbourne or the gold coast, there is also some game centers but it's less good than sydney. From what I witenessed, game centers on those cities are more "tourist" oriented so you can expect more dedicated cabinet than "real" arcade games like STG or fighting.
Other than games, australia is a really cool country, you can find anything from nature to big cities , waves are good for surfing ! :aaah: people are mellow minded there ...
and eat a BBQ on the beach is awesome !
I hope this will help you !

YiFan's Game Center in Auckland, New Zealand is the biggest game center in town, lots of STGs and two (three?) huge lanes of fighting games.. Not too expensive, for French standards (0.20€ per credit, in average). There are other arcade centers as well but none as big and they don't have shmups, or very few.
Wellington's arcade centers aren't as big, but it's better than nothing.

Don't know much about Australia, yet... but thanks for the tips HUU
